John Ferdinand Arnold was the father of John Arnold Sr. (Splinter's dad and John III's grandfather).  He moved to the now Arnold Farm from the Lost River, WV area in 1892 to sharecrop for the John Parker Family who owned the farm at the time.  The Parkers acquired the farm from the Millar Family (Isaac Millar) who was a prominent officer during the Revolutionary War, businessman, and civic leader.  John F. Arnold married and had three boys, John R. Sr., William H. and Ira of which John and Ira stayed and worked on the farm also.  In 1938, the farm was to be sold and John F. and his sons decided to purchase it.  They worked hard and were able to pay for the farm mainly by raising crops and feeding cattle to slaughter size.  John F. died in 1950 at 80 years of age.  Ira and John R. Sr. along with now 12 year old John Jr. continued to work the farm and were able to make a go of it.  John R. Sr. died in 1970 at the age of 70 and Ira died in 1980.  At the present time John Jr. and John III still farm full-time.

The main house on the farm was built in 1770. It was originally the home of Isaac Millar and is one of the oldest houses in Hampshire County.
